Friends of ours convinced us that we should meet them at The Spitfire Arms pub in Windsor for dinner. They live in the Valley and we're from Bedford. Well, all we can say is WOW! It's not very big, or so we thought, as we arrived about 6:30 on a Friday the place was packed - I mean no room at all and folks waiting for a place to sit. One of the waitresses informed us that they also have an upstairs function room that was open every Friday because of how busy they are. The main part of the pub was really interesting - all kinds of WW2 airplane parts in a glass case and lots more to see. We found our way up the stairs to an amazing space! The rooms upstairs were really relaxing (they call it the Officers Mess), art deco in style. The service was very good considering how busy it was downstairs and there was only a table for two not being used upstairs. Apparently they have live music three days a week so people get there early and stay for the entertainment. All four of us ordered something different and after an average wait, it all looked and tasted really good - much better than any other pub we've been to. One thing my wife noticed is that there isn't much of a wine selection but I like beer...and there is alot of choices! Our waitress informed me there were 17 draft and over 60 other beer in the fridge, I'm not easily impressed by selection but that was much more than I thought a place in Windsor would have. We stayed for about 1-1/2 hours and had such a good experience that we'll make the trip again really soon.
